I had time to reflect on a friendship today while concentrating on where to place my feet during a rocky hike.
My dear friend Jill came to visit this past week. She left today, and we had such a good visit. We visited the Palm Springs Art Museum, The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, participated in a ladies putting contest and so much more. We also had a chance to just sit and chill.
Chilling is really a foreign concept for me. I am more of a get up, get out, come home, and go to sleep type. She, on the other hand, prefers to just chill and enjoy the beautiful weather.
Our friendship has lasted for over thirty years. We have always had different outlooks on life and how we motor through each day. Our differences are probably one of the things that keeps us together. We need each other to push and pull in ways we don't usually go.
I would not be surprised if Jill spent the entire plane ride back East sleeping and recovering from my constant expectation for us to 'do things'. And back here in the Desert, an hour after she left, my husband and I hopped in the car and embarked on a three hour boulder hopping hike.
Both activities are equally enjoyable. I knew she enjoyed trekking through the museum and wandering for several miles at the zoo. She encouraged me to sit still several times which made me itchy to move around. However, once I settled into the chilling, I actually enjoyed it!
Friends come in all different types. The friendship that we share is one of comfort and ease. She was an early supporter of Adventures in Life, so I was enthusiastic to hear what she thought of the blog. The insights she provided helped me to tweak several aspects of the delivery process which I hope everyone will notice.
Blogging is a passion project for me. The nitty gritty of publishing, however, is a constant challenge. I want to thank you for reading this blog right now. It means I am doing something right since you took the time to click the link and read.
Each Monday morning I try to make sure that there is something in your inbox if you subscribe. Sometimes it will be about a recent adventure and other times it might be a book review. This blog is meant to be a place where you can learn and laugh at the same time. Remember, do not leave your car keys on the top of your car!
Before she departed to go home, Jill suggested that every once in a while I do something out of the ordinary in this blog. I plan to take this to heart in the upcoming weeks. Perhaps an extra post will drop just to make you smile or laugh.
If you have an instagram account make sure to find me there at adventures.in.life2024. There you can see some of the places I am visiting and activities I am doing. And if you have not yet become a subscriber please do it today.
Have a great week!
